TAASA has been working diligently to provide Registered Nurses with Continuing Nursing Education at the Annual Conference. This year, TAASA is applying to the International Association of Forensic Nurses’ Approver Unit for contact hours for all the 2019 TAASA Conference Sessions. IAFN is the premier professional organization for Forensic Nurses and the leader in providing Forensic Nurses with CNEs.

This activity is being submitted to the International Association of Forensic Nurses for approval to award contact hours. The International Association of Forensic Nurses is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE-P): Pediatric

This continuing education activity is designed for the registered nurse interested in caring for this specialized population. Participants of this course will learn the valuable role of the registered nurse as a pediatric forensic nurse examiner, practice standards, components of the forensic exam, evidence collection, and the importance of community collaboration.

This 5-day continuing education activity will provide the scientific knowledge to enable the learner to understand the practice standards and role responsibilities of a pediatric sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE). The learner may then decide to pursue further clinical education to become a SANE.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Clinical Workshop: Adult Adolescent

This hands-on clinical skills workshop will engage the learner in simulated evidence collection, pelvic examination, photography skills, speculum insertion, identification of anatomical landmarks, use of examination adjuncts, & practice with documentation using trauma terminology.

Advanced Forensic Photography

This hands-on advanced forensic photography training will provide information about the history of forensic photography, enhance the skill and knowledge about the DSLR camera, provide the learner with the information to identify components of proper body mechanics and setting techniques, demonstrate elements of correct photographic exposure, and review various methods to capture challenging injuries and allow for the evaluation of peer review of forensic photography.
